Gran Canaria hosts the Annual Guides Retreat titled: ‘Towards the Deep Encounter,’ held at the Santiago Apostol House of Spirituality, in the city of Telde.
The event brought together 33 Guides from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and Valencia, for a few days dedicated to prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal.
The Motivator Guide leading the retreat was Enedina Rivero, from the Local Coordination of Gran Canaria. We also had the presence of our sister Guide Isabel, from the National Coordination of Southern Spain, who is in charge of the Schools for Preparing Guides.
During the retreat, the participants were invited to deepen their personal relationship with the Lord, and to review how they live out their faith, their commitment, and their trust in Him. The reflections helped us ask ourselves whether we truly remain united with His presence or if, at times, everyday worries and difficulties take over our hearts and pull us away from what is essential.
It was a time of inner encounter, silence, and listening, but also of joy in reconnecting and sharing the journey with Guides from different islands and groups. It was an opportunity to renew our strength, intensify our vocation, and remember that, before accompanying others, we are called to care for and deepen our own relationship with God.
Once again, it became clear that we are a big family united by the same spirituality and the same mission. A family that walks together, supports each other, and finds in the Lord the strength to continue its service.
The Annual Guides Retreat ended leaving in our hearts the desire to keep deepening our encounter with Jesus, trusting in Him more fully, and renewing our commitment to bring others the richness of prayer and the joy of meeting the Lord.
Because everything begins and is renewed in that deep encounter with Him.
