Another Christmas!
I seek another Christmas. For my people, I want another kind of Christmas; one that never dies, one that, in passing, leaves not emptiness but life and warmth. Better still, for our Guides, I want an immortal Christmas whose echoes never fade and whose lights never extinguish. An eternal Christmas. What do I mean by this? I mean: the meaning of life, the raison d’être of a Guide is to “be” Christmas. Everything a Guide lives, everything a Guide does is essentially Christmas. Birth. Whose? Of Jesus, naturally. Whenever Jesus is born, it is Christmas. When a Guide, in the daily Sacred Half Hour, sinks into the intimacy of Jesus, enters into the most profound communication with Him, feels flooded by His presence, illuminated by the light of His Face in the unknown and dark corner of their unconscious… And leaves their room populated within by the resurrected presence of Jesus, saying, “Now I begin to be like Jesus,” at that moment, Jesus has been born again, it is Christmas.
Heaven, the sea, the earth,
and the air are to be congratulated.
Joy vibrates in the sky,
and the celebration crackles under the snow.
The Mother is abandoned with ineffable sweetness
on a bed of straw and dry grass,
lost in a pure and serene gaze.
The oxen and the little donkeys of the whole earth
intone a festival of dance and song
that will endure until dawn.
In any corner of the earth
where a Guide breathes,
there goes the blue star furrowing the spaces,
bringing them a chest of incense
and an ounce of gold
and a saddlebag laden with Love and Peace.
Happy Christmas!
